From: Jamie Roper Date: Monday, April 26, 2021 6:48 pm Subject: COVID Emergency Rental Assistance funding to assist clients age 60 + OR adults 55+ with disabilities Good Afternoon, Trident Area Agency on Aging currently has COVID Emergency Rental Assistance funding to assist clients age 60 + OR adults 55+ with disabilities. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, please have contact Lavonia Dixon @ 843-554-2281 to be screened. Eligibility: · Adults above the age of 60 or adults 55 or older with disabilities and living within the State of South Carolina (must reside in any of the 46 counties within the state). · An example of need and eligibility for services might include: Seniors who experienced the loss of a spouse or another contributor to the household's income during the COVID-19 pandemic. Seniors with increased bills and household expenses as result of the pandemic. Seniors with individuals living in the home who tested positive for COVID-19 or were hospitalized and incurred increased medical bills or additional medical needs that now required they pay for in home care. · Household income within 200% federal poverty guidelines. · Vouchers may be awarded only for rental assistance. · Individuals with a mortgage are not eligible for assistance through this funding. Program Guidelines: · All program participants must complete the COVID Rental Assistance Application ( have the clients call me to be screened and provided an application) · Voucher awards for rental assistance are not to exceed $1000 · Supporting documents required for proof of unexpected expense or loss of income related to the COVID-19 pandemic · Applicant’s name must be on the lease · Need for assistance due to unexpected expense or loss of income related to the COVID-19 pandemic · Applicants must complete an application packet with the Regional I&R Specialist · Proof of income for the household must be supplied along with a picture identification · Property Manager/Landlord information must be supplied on the application and a W-9 must be completed ( these will be verified) · Payments will be mailed to the Property Manager/Landlord from Trident Area Agency on Aging Jamie Roper| Mayor’s Office On Aging Coordinator City of Charleston| Executive Department 75 Calhoun Street|Suite 3700|Charleston, SC 29401 T:(843) 577-1306|F:(843) 965-4192| roperj@charleston-sc.gov | www.charleston-sc.gov
